“FORTS WALK THE TALK”, a mega fashion show was organized by Forts Hospital, Shiva at the Imperial Banquet. Hall, Sheelagh Mall on 9th July 2011. Sixty Senior citizens who have recently undergone joint replacement surgeries walked the ramp in this grand event in celebration of life and their increased agility post the surgical intervention. Unlike many others, this unique fashion show was not aimed at any glamour quotient or for any fund raising purpose but simply and essentially sought to celebrate the spirit of life of these role models and spread awareness on the curative options of joint problems. A week of careful and meticulous planning went by in preparation for this day. These included coordinating with the participants, event managers, choreographers, dress rehearsals, sending invites to Guests and audiences, liaising with the media etc. The efforts put in by the team did wonders as the event spelt great success. The show was greatly appreciated by the audience and the public in general, as this gesture was a first of its kind ever undertaken by any hospital. The show was also a heart moving experience for many of the participants who had until recently (before surgery) lost all hope of being able to get back on their feet and enjoy life again. On 9th July, the media arrived by quarter to three in the afternoon at the Imperial Banquets. Dr. Ratika, the host for the event, welcomed the members of the media. The media was briefed on the objective of the event by Dr. Mantelshelves, Medical Superintendent and Orthopedic Surgeons, Dr.Rakesh Nair & Dr. Siddharth Yadav. Few of the patients shared their success stories with the media.
This was followed by a Song by patient Laxmi Balasubramanium who enthralled the audience with her soothing voice. However, the showstopper of the event was an impromptu ramp walk by the Hospital’s orthopedic team of Dr Rakesh Nair, Dr Siddarth Yadav, Dr Sanjay Dhar & Dr Neeraj Srivastava. They expressed great happiness on being a part of the program and opined that no experience could be more rewarding than the feeling of seeing their patients walking the ramp and living life to the fullest. This was followed by the announcements of the winners. Awards along with certificates were presented by the Hospital Ortho team to the winners in the following categories. • Fortis Best Smile • Fortis Best Walk • Fortis Best Personality • Fortis Best Confidence • Fortis Best Dancer Dr. M K Maheshkant, Medical Superintendent was invited on stage to give away the Main Award • Fortis Mr. Walk the Talk title was bagged by Mr. N P Gupta • Fortis Mrs. Walk the Talk was bagged by Mrs. Papia Chowdhury
